This webinar will walk participants through the essential requirements for selling farm-fresh eggs, from understanding state regulations and labeling laws to proper handling, washing, storage, and food safety practices. Attendees will learn the differences between on-farm, direct-to-consumer, and retail egg sales, as well as when grading, licensing, or inspections may be required.

PSLA Seminars are held in person weekly on Mondays beginning 2.9.26 in PLS Building Rm 2107/2109 from 12PM-1PM followed by graduate student lunch with the seminar speaker. Seminars will be broadcast live via Zoom. Spring 2026 will feature speakers from the University of Oregon, National Links Trust, Brookhaven National Laboratory, MSDE, and the University of Florida.

This 10-week course will be offered in an online format.

The class will meet on Tuesday evenings, from 7 to 8:30 pm, from February 10 through April 14, 2026 online.

Students will complete at-your-own pace homework on the course website on campus.extension.org

Topics covered will include business planning, marketing, crop production, livestock husbandry, soil health, integrated pest management, food safety, regulations and certifications, acquiring land and zoning, specialty crops, organic production, and urban agriculture.

Course registration is $60 plus eventbrite fees. Two people from the same farm/family may attend the course under one registration.
