MAES/UMES Integrated Research and Extension Program

Maryland Cooperative Extension (MCE) and Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) have joined forces to capitalize on the expertise and research interests of the two units to become more competitive for integrated research funding. To that end, MCE and MAES solicited integrated research proposals that are translational in nature (i.e., taking scientific investigation or the discovery of knowledge to application, proof of concept, and/or educational programs with identified learning outcomes that allow the end-user to make informed decisions).

Multistate Research Program

The mission of the multistate research program is to enable research on high-priority topics among the State Agricultural Experiment Stations (SAES) in partnership with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), other research institutions and agencies, and with the Cooperative Extension Service (CES).  In this way, technological opportunities and complex problem solving activities which are beyond the scope of a single SAES, can be approached in a more efficient and comprehensive way.

Capacity Funded Programs

Capacity funded programs like the Multistate Research Program enable research on high-priority topics among the State Agricultural Experiment Stations (SAES) in partnership with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), other research institutions and agencies, and with the Cooperative Extension Service (CES). In this way, technological opportunities and complex problem solving activities which are beyond the scope of a single SAES, can be approached in a more efficient and comprehensive way.
