This fully online Farmer Training and Certification course provides the same certification requirements as other FTC offerings and is intended for producers seeking additional scheduling flexibility in the spring. Training focuses on nutrient management regulations and development of nutrient management plans using NuMan Pro software.

Participants must have current soil and manure/organic tests prior to training.

Description:
This fully online Farmer Training and Certification course is designed for Maryland producers seeking certification to write their own nutrient management plans. Participants will receive instruction on Maryland nutrient management requirements and plan development using NuMan Pro software.

The course requires a significant time commitment. Larger or more complex operations may require additional training. Participants must have current soil and manure/organic tests prior to training.

This 10-week course will be offered in an online format.

The class will meet on Tuesday evenings, from 7 to 8:30 pm, from February 10 through April 14, 2026 online.

Students will complete at-your-own pace homework on the course website on campus.extension.org

Topics covered will include business planning, marketing, crop production, livestock husbandry, soil health, integrated pest management, food safety, regulations and certifications, acquiring land and zoning, specialty crops, organic production, and urban agriculture.
