Whether you are fascinated by bugs or just a little curious, this event is designed to be welcoming and inclusive for everyone. We recognize that people have a wide range of experiences and comfort levels with insects—and that is okay! Our goal is to help you explore your personal connection with these animals and leave with a new appreciation for the vital role they play in our world.
This free, family-friendly event will take place indoors and outdoors at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center in Columbia, MD. The event will feature the University of Maryland Insect Zoo, insect crafts and hands-on activities, educational displays, and local environmental education groups including the University of Maryland Extension Master Gardener Program, the Community Ecology Institute, and more!

The University of Maryland Extension (UME) Nutrient Management Specialists will be available to assist you with updating to your nutrient management plan and the nutrient management planning software NuMan Pro 5.3. The sessions will be informal and participants will work at their own pace. Participants must be familiar with a keyboard/computer and able to retrieve and save files. Bring a keyboarding assistant, if needed.

The Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, Inc. was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1950. In the early part of the last century the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, Inc. (FGCMD) was one of the first states to form a Federation as part of the garden club movement. In 1929 Maryland was one of sixteen charter states that organized into what is now the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
Join the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland (FGCM) for an Earth Day Symposium featuring three of University of Maryland Extension's Faculty members covering topics from ecological landscaping, native plants, and pollinators.
