AGNR is thrilled to announce John Erwin’s appointment to the USDA’s new Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production Federal Advisory Committee. Erwin is a professor and chair in the Department of Plant Science & Landscape Architecture. The 12-person committee will advise the Secretary of Agriculture on the development of policies and outreach relating to urban, indoor, and other emerging agricultural production practices as well as identify any barriers to urban agriculture. Erwin is in an exclusive group of only two representatives from an institution of higher education or Extension program. He will sit for three years alongside other committee members from the non-profit, business, finance, and agricultural production sectors, among others.
