Mark your calendars for a FREE, fun-filled day on the farm, courtesy of the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR). On Saturday, October 5, the College of AGNR will host an Open House at the Central Maryland Research and Education Center Clarksville Facility in Howard County from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The facility is centrally located at 4240 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD.

It’s an interactive day of fun and learning for all ages. Come hang out with horses, cows, chicks, and turtles… take a farm tour on a hay wagon… pick and paint a pumpkin… have your plant questions answered by a Master Gardener… taste fresh fruit grown right here in Maryland… get up close with creepy crawlers… climb a rock wall… learn about exciting youth programs available through Maryland 4-H… visit displays and exhibits on everything from food safety to environmental stewardship to energy efficiency… participate in plenty of hands-on activities… get a glimpse of what our students are doing… talk with an AGNR representative… and discover that the College of AGNR is about SO much more than traditional agriculture!

Young children will receive a passport and can win a prize for getting it punched at all the different stations. Middle- and high-school students can also receive prizes for successfully completing an educational scavenger hunt. Several of our student organizations will be selling lunch, snacks and drinks at booths to help support their endeavors. Come learn about the variety of programs the College of AGNR has to offer right in your own backyard.

What better way to welcome in fall? We’ll see you at the farm – rain or shine!
