Kayla Griffith is a faculty specialist in the University of Maryland Extension Nutrient Management Program where she provides education and outreach on nutrient management plan development to farmers, private consultants, and UMD nutrient management advisors. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Michigan Technological University, a M.S. in Agronomy from Iowa State University where her thesis research focused on graduate-level soil science education for distance education students, and a graduate certificate in Leadership and Management from University of Maryland Global Campus. She is also a certified nutrient management consultant and a Certified Crop Advisor. Prior to her current faculty specialist position, Kayla was a University of Maryland nutrient management advisor in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City from 2018-2021, and taught agronomy for the UMD Plant Science and Landscape Architecture department from 2021-2023. Her broad research interests are applied and on-farm nutrient management practices, agriculture mentoring and leadership, and formal/informal adult education.
