Attend this in-person event to receive certification for Good Agricultural Practices from the Maryland Department of Agriculture. All-day attendance is mandatory to earn the certificate.

8:30 – 9:05 a.m. Introductions, expectations, Introduction: Writing a Food Safety Plan
9:05 – 9:55 a.m. What is hazard analysis? Workers: Health Hygiene, and Training (35 min talk + 10 min plan work and discussion)
9:55 – 10:05 a.m. Break
10:05 – 10:40 a.m. Wildlife (25 min talk + 10 min plan work and discussion)
10:40 – 11:45 a.m. Production Water (40 min talk + 15 min plan work and discussion)
11:45- Noon Questions?

University of Maryland is the place to be for Maryland Day 2024! This will be the 99th annual Ag Day and this year we're excited for our very first AGNR Alumni Chill Zone in the Animal Science Courtyard!

Join us on Ag Day Avenue to visit the Campus Farm and take in a livestock show with our students. Drop by the Animal Science courtyard to see our college in full force with clubs, departments, and Extension programs. Grab a plant from the Institute of Applied Agriculture or from the Plant Science Building. McKeldin Mall will feature Maryland 4-H and there's an Extension catfish cooking demo at Hornbake Plaza.

The topics that will be addressed include: farm management, site management and maintenance, best management practices, mortality, manure handling, litter management, vegetative environmental buffers, financial/recordkeeping, nutrient management, inspections, and emergency preparedness. We will also share all the information in a memory stick to take back to the farm for future reference. Certificate of completion will be awarded to each participant.

With planting season upon us , it is a great time to refresh your pest identification and management skills. Join the University of Maryland Extension for a one-day review class about integrated pest management. Whether you have need a refresh or this is your first time hear about IPM and want a basic overview this class is for you. During this class we will review the principle of integrated pest management and how to use it to reduce plant diseases, insect damage, and weeds on the farm. We will also go over basic skills for identifying common insect pests and weeds in Maryland.
