Arrival Information

Students should begin to assemble in the Armory basement no earlier than 2:30 p.m. (there is a ceremony taking place before ours). Students are to arrive no later than 2:45 p.m. The procession of graduates will begin promptly at 3:15 p.m. and we ask that all guests be seated by that time.

Please note: There will be a BAG CHECK upon entrance to the Armory.  Seeing as bag checks can be a time consuming process, we encourage guests to leave bags at home. We understand that this may come as an inconvenience to some but our aim is to minimize wait times at the door and ensure that guests are seated before the ceremony begins.

Ticket Information

Campus-wide Ceremony: Tickets are required for the Spring 2020 campus-wide ceremony. Each student will receive 4-tickets for the ceremony. More information here.

AGNR Ceremony:  Tickets are not required for the College of AGNR ceremony. However, we do request that each graduate limit their guest list to 4-6 persons so as to allow room for all guests to be seated during the ceremony.

Disability Services

Guests attending the Campus-wide Ceremony who need accessibility accommodations or have questions regarding the accommodations for those accomodations may contact the Office of Special Events at events@ur.umd.edu or 301.405.4638.

Guests attending the AGNR Ceremony who need accomodations should speak with their graduating student. All graduating AGNR students will be asked to fill out an RSVP for the ceremony at which time they will have the opportunity to request those accomodations.

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS are available upon request. Please contact the Disability Support Service at 301.314.7209 or dhhs@umd.edu to make arrangements.

HANDICAP PARKING:  Those with handicap parking permits may park in any available handicap parking space on campus. There are spaces closer to the Armory (though limited) in addition to the spaces in Regents Park Garage (note: the garage is equipped with elevators in multiple locations for ease of access).  Again, shuttle service will be available to and from the garage.

DROPPING GUESTS OFF:  Guests will be able to pull directly up to the rear entrance of the Armory to drop off any individuals who require additional assistance. Those guests will be admitted through the rear accessible entrance and led to their seats.

Regalia

BACHELOR'S & MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENTS must purchase their regalia. The following items are required: cap, gown, departmental hood, stole of gratitude and tassel with the official medallion. The Undergraduate package will cost $109 and the Master's package will cost $158.

DOCTORAL STUDENTS may rent or buy their regalia. If you choose to rent your regalia, it must be picked up from the book center (shipping is not available). The cost to rent regalia is $230 and the cost to purchase regalia is $1098.

Please plan on attending the Spring 2020 Grad Fair on March 10th-12th (10am - 6pm) at the University Book Center. During the Grad Fair, you will have the opportunity to view and purchase the items that you will need in order to participate in either the AGNR Commencement Ceremony or the Main Campus Ceremony. There will also be vendors there selling items such as class rings, commemorative collectibles, diploma frames, and graduation announcements. The University Book Center is the official supplier of commencement regalia for the university, with Oak Hall as the official provider. For information about class rings and announcements, visit www.balfour.com.

Online orders can only include the full package. Graduates looking to purchase individual items from the regalia package can do so at the University Book Center. Online orders for Bachelor's and Master's Degree regalia must be submitted by April 8th; otherwise, students can visit the bookstore in person to purchase their regalia. Please email mfoster5@umd.edu if you live out of state and will need regalia shipped to you. Items may be shipped for an additional $18.95. If you have questions, contact the University Book Center at 301.314.9231.

Note: The College of AGNR will be providing honor cords to those who qualify. Otherwise, AGNR does not have additional regalia available to rent or borrow for the ceremony.
