Arrival Information

Students should report to The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (The Clarice) no earlier than 3:30 p.m. (there is a ceremony taking place before ours) and no later than 3:45 p.m.  The procession of graduates will begin promptly at 4:20 p.m. Guests of graduates are expected to be in their seats by this time.

Please note: There will be a BAG CHECK upon entering The Clarice.  Seeing as bag checks can be a time-consuming process, we encourage guests to leave bags at home. We understand that this may come as an inconvenience to some but our aim is to minimize wait times at the door and ensure that guests are seated before the ceremony begins.

Ticket Information

Campus-wide Ceremony: Tickets are not required for the Winter 2019 campus-wide ceremony. More information here.

AGNR Ceremony:  Tickets are not required for the College of AGNR ceremony. However, we do request that each graduate limit their guest list to 4-6 persons so as to allow room for all guests to be seated during the ceremony.

Disability Services

Guests attending the Campus-wide Ceremony who need accessibility accommodations or have questions regarding the accommodations for those accomodations may contact the Office of Special Events at events@ur.umd.edu or 301.405.4638.

Guests attending the AGNR Ceremony who need accomodations should speak with their graduating student. All graduating AGNR students will be asked to fill out an RSVP for the ceremony at which time they will have the opportunity to request those accomodations.

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS are available upon request. Please contact the Disability Support Service at 301.314.7209 or dhhs@umd.edu to make arrangements.

HANDICAP PARKING:  Those with handicap parking permits may park in any available handicap parking space on campus. As mentioned before, Stadium Drive Garage is the closest parking option but spaces are at a premium. DOCTORAL STUDENTS may rent or buy their regalia. If you choose to rent your regalia, it must be picked up from the book center (shipping is not available). The cost to rent regalia is $220.98 and the cost to purchase regalia is $1034.98.

Please plan on attending the Winter 2019 Grad Fair on October 30th & 31st (10am - 6pm) at the University Book Center. During the Grad Fair, you will have the opportunity to view and purchase the items that you will need in order to participate in either the AGNR Commencement Ceremony or the Main Campus Ceremony. There will also be vendors there selling items such as class rings, commemorative collectibles, diploma frames, and graduation announcements. The University Book Center is the official supplier of commencement regalia for the university, with Oak Hall as the official provider. For information about class rings and announcements, visit www.balfour.com.

For Winter Commencement, graduates may purchase regalia packages at the University Book Center’s Grad Fair and acquire a $10.00 discount. The undergraduate package will cost $140.00 and the graduate degree package will cost $148.00. If regalia is purchased after the Winter Grad Fair, pricing will be $150.00 for undergraduate packages and $158.00 for graduate packages.

Online orders can only include the full package. Additionally, the Grad Fair discount is not available for online purchases. Graduates looking to purchase individual items from the regalia package can do so at the University Book Center. Please email dwon1@umd.edu if you live out of state and will need regalia shipped to you. Items may be shipped for an additional $15.95. If you have questions, contact Deddisun Won of the University Book Center at 301.405.9478.

Note: The College of AGNR will be providing honor cords to those who qualify. Otherwise, AGNR does not have additional regalia available to rent or borrow for the ceremony.
