An Extension educator and research facility from the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) were recently spotlighted in a national broadcast.

University of Maryland Extension (UME) educator Dave Myers was featured in a story on the CBS Evening News focusing on the positive effects the ongoing drought is having on fruit in the region. Myers was interviewed at AGNR’s Upper Marlboro research facility in Prince George’s County.

“When you think about quality fruit you think about something that’s sweet and has good flavor,” Myers said in the CBS News piece. “Of course, if you get too much water you tend to lose both of those components. You wash out the flavor as well as the sweetness.”

Myers is the Extension director for Anne Arundel County and an adjunct professor for the Institute of Applied Agriculture, the two-year program offered by the College of AGNR at the University of Maryland.
