A Banner Year for the College of AGNR

2012 brought many reasons to celebrate for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Maryland! In case you missed some of the headlines, here is a list of ten highlights from the past calendar year, in no particular order:

*Enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of AGNR increased for the sixth consecutive year. The College also welcomed more than 40 new faculty members over the last academic year.

*Students and faculty within the Department of Animal & Avian Sciences are excited about an innovative proposal to turn the iconic campus farm into a teaching lab for the future. Learn more about the project here.

*Dr. Marc Nerlove, a professor with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics was named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association – one of the most prestigious awards available within his field. Read more…

*Researchers with the Department of Environmental Science and Technology led a multi-disciplinary project team that was awarded a competitive grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for an innovative proposal designed to help communities tackle stormwater and reduce pollution to the Chesapeake Bay. *The Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture welcomed researchers from around the world to the College Park campus for a symposium on green roof technology. Read more here…
