I had anticipated that last week would be slow based on the number of meetings on my calendar, but I was wrong. The calendar managed to fill as the short week progressed and I was able to tackle a few projects that were long overdue for attention. The end of this week appears to allow me to get some things done (presentations, reports) that are due late June and into mid-July.
I am in Burlington, VT for the first part of the week attending the APLU Northeast Administrative Heads Section summer meeting. The deans are joined by Extension and research leads across the region in addition to our CARET representatives. Maryland is once again well represented with Kristen Hughes Evans, one of our CARETs, serving as the chair for the regional CARET team. An unexpected highlight of the trip is that the annual meeting of the American Ecological Engineering Society is in Burlington this week, too. As a result, Puneet, Jinhee, and I can attend the awards ceremony where Stephanie Lansing will be inducted as a Fellow.
We can’t complain about the weekend weather. I did some yardwork and welcomed the cool temperatures. I hope for more of the same this coming weekend though it looks a bit warmer with perhaps some storms. But things change; especially the weather forecast.
