Faculty Opportunities
Farmer2Farmer
Farmer to Farmer (F2F) is a volunteer program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that matches volunteer agricultural experts with farmers in developing countries.
U.S. volunteers provide technical assistance to smallholder farmers in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. Assignments average about three weeks and all travel expenses and stipend are paid to the volunteer.
Fulbright
The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.
Host Scholars
There are many opportunities to host visiting scholars and help them navigate the city, the university, and their education. Host a Borlaug, Cochran, or Muskie Fellow, or other international student.

Thinking about offering a faculty-led study abroad program during Winter or Spring Break 2020? Education Abroad is seeking proposals for new and innovative short-term programs that support one or more of the following outcomes and goals:

Create multi-disciplinary project-based learning opportunities that explore pressing global problems and challenges

Increase access to opportunities for underrepresented students in study abroad

Further undergraduate research opportunities

Expand the UMD study abroad program portfolio to underrepresented regions including Africa, Eastern Europe, South and Southeast Asia

Further integrate education abroad into the major

Focus on academic disciplines that are underrepresented in study abroad including but not limited to public health, agriculture, sociology, government & politics, and college of computer, mathematical and natural sciences
