For the second year in a row, the University of Maryland has welcomed the arrival of two new foals on the Campus Farm.
Through the Equine Studies Program, this is only the second time in the last 30 years that live foaling has happened on the campus farm.
Both foals were colts (boys) and were born nearly a month and a half apart. The first foal, a bay colt thoroughbred (pictured left) was born on February 12. His father is named Rock Slide and mother is named The Best Sister.
The second foal (pictured right) was born on the morning of March 29th, which was a week earlier than expected. He is a chestnut colt thoroughbred and was born by his father, Friesan Fire and his mother, Daylight Lassie.
The foals are still looking for registered names, which is where YOU come in!
Click here to visit the foal naming site, which will be open until Tuesday, April 22nd, to submit your own original names for the Campus Farm's new colt thoroughbreds.
The winning names will be announced on Maryland Day, April 26th. Good luck to all participants!
