Haley Sater is an Agricultural Extension Agent for Wicomico County, specializing in fruit and vegetable production and sustainable agricultural practices. She leads research projects on small fruit variety trials for thornless blackberries and blueberries and has worked on using grafted watermelons for fusarium and nematode resistance. She collaborates with other Extension Agents to investigate giant miscanthus as an alternative crop for marginal lands and promote the use of purposeful cover crops to improve soil health on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
In addition to her research, Haley organizes educational events, including field days, fruit, vegetable, and agronomy days, as well as virtual programs like the Backyard Gardening Webinar series. She mentors summer interns and students in agricultural research and is committed to supporting local farmers, fostering collaboration with industry partners, and advancing sustainable farming practices in the region.
