Networking & Skill Building
Through career panels, career fairs, employer and networking events, we empower students to successfully embark upon their career after UMD.
Terrapins Connect
Terrapins Connect is an exclusive platform, connecting UMD students and alumni for mentoring relationships. Search Terrapins Connect to find alumni willing to provide industry advice, interviewing tips, job shadowing and more
LinkedIn is a leading networking platform that connects professionals world wide for informational interviews or job leads. Students should create a well developed LinkedIn profile and connect with professionals and UMD alumni. The alumni tool within LinkedIn allows students to see where UMD graduates are employed and the skills they utilize in their careers.
LinkedIn Learning
UMD students, faculty, and staff have free access to LinkedIn Learning, an online learning service that can help students and professionals develop and build key skills for the world of work. There are many modules on developing job/internship application materials as well as job/internship search strategies. There are also many modules that can help students build technical skills like ArcGIS, Excel, AutoCAD and more!
Search For Jobs & Internships
There are a few resources to assist AGNR students in locating internship and job opportunities.
Handshake is the University of Maryland's career management system. Through this platform, students search for internships and jobs, RSVP for career programs and events, and much more.
Students can create their own job or internship search alert or view featured AGNR opportunities within Handshake.
**If you feel like you are receiving too many emails from Handshake, go into your settings and make adjustments to what you specifically want to hear about. Do not "unsubscribe" from all emails-- this will also prevent you from receiving event RSVP reminders, appointment reminders, and other important notifications.
The AGNR Undergraduate Blog, curated and managed by AGNR Academic Programs sends out weekly emails to the AGNR student community. The AGNR Blog posts jobs, internships, professional development conferences, and volunteer opportunities for students to gain professional experience.
