Professional Summary:

Dr. Seo is a reproductive biologist. The long-term goal of his research is to understand the cellular and molecular interactions between the conceptus and uterus during the processes of implantation and placentation - with the ultimate goal of applying new knowledge towards clinical strategies to reduce infertility and prevent pregnancy loss in women and domestic livestock. He utilizes livestock animal species, including pigs, sheep, and cows, to pursue comparative studies across species that have different types of implantation and placentation to gain insights into the physiological, cellular and molecular events that support successful pregnancy. At the core of his research is a focus on the temporal and spatial changes in the metabolism of specific cell types within the uterus and placenta during the dynamic events of implantation and early placental development.
