Congratulations to Dean Cheng-i Wei from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for his recent induction into the University of Maryland chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society as a distinguished faculty member.
Phi Kappa Phi bills itself as the oldest honor society in the country. It initiates juniors in the top 7.5 percent of their class and seniors in the top 10 percent of their class, as well as the top 10 percent of graduate students. Alumni, staff and faculty members who have achieved scholarly distinction, as in the case of Dean Wei, are also sometimes invited to join. Earlier this month, Dean Wei and 159 other new members were inducted into the University of Maryland chapter during a ceremony at Memorial Chapel.
Dean Wei joins numerous students, faculty, staff and alumni within the College of AGNR who are members of this prestigious society, including Dr. William Bowerman, chair of the department of Environmental Science and Technology, who also serves as the chapter liaison to the National Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
