4-H and FFA International Exchange

An international exchange program is being offered to alumni of 4-H and Future Farmers of America (ages 19 to 30). 4-H and FFA organize 6-week, 3-month, and 6-month, exchange programs with rural youth organizations in over twenty-five countries. Rather than attending school in another country, participants in these programs live and work as part of the family. Participants move to a new family every 3 to 5 weeks, so they can gain a broader perspective about life in their host country.

Tomorrow's agricultural leaders need to gain international experience now. Research has shown that youth with international experience are more self-confident, more independent, and more culturally sensitive than their peers. It's no surprise that graduate colleges and potential employers value an international experience in considering applicants. Beyond these personal benefits, the International 4-H Youth Exchange and FFA Explorer programs have a broader social purpose. They are managed on the belief that you can best learn about another culture by living with the people.
