The University of Maryland Equestrian Club (UMEC) offers Animal Science students an on Campus place to learn about horses. With the department providing the barn, equipment, riding arenas and horses, the students have little to focus on except for Equine care, management, medicine, riding and fun. There is a fee of $100 per semester for each member, but deductions are easily earned for participation or instructional help. Most decisions about UMEC are made by the members under the leadership of the Directors and Instructors. We offer a great oportunity to all ANSC students and we're always open to suggestions. We also try to have something for everyone to learn including basic English, Western equitation, Dressage, bareback and trail riding, horse and farm management, Veterinary care, teaching skills and much more. The UMEC is located at the campus horse barn, and our office is in the Shack, right next to the paddocks. There is limited space, so call us right away to reserve yourself a place in the most educational equine club provided by University of Maryland.
