Academic Integrity

What is Academic Integrity?

It is the responsbility of every styudent at the University to adhere steadfastly to truthfulness and to avoid dishonesty, fraud, or deceit of any type in connection with any academic program


What is Academic Dishonesty?

-It is a corrosive force in the academic life

-It jeopardizes the quality of education and depreciates the genuine achievements of others


Types of Academic Dishonesty:

1. Cheating: intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information or study aids in any academic exercise

2. Fabrication: intentional and unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic exercise

3. Facilitating Academic Dishonesty: intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to commit an act of academic dishonesty

4. Plagiarism: intentionally or knowingly representing the words or ideas of another as one's own in any academic exercise


What happens if I get caught behing academically dishonest?

-You can be suspended or expulsed from the University

-Most likely, you will receive a grade of "XF" denoting failure due to academic dishonesty

-The Student Honor Council investigates cases of academic dishonesty
