Meet the Staff

Leon Slaughter is the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Dr. Slaughter works with both graduate and undergraduate students. Undergraduates interested in the college Honors program or the Certificate in International Agriculture and Natural Resources should contact him at 301-405-2078 or by email.

Ray Stricklin is the Assistant Dean for Academic Programs. Dr. Stricklin works directly with undergraduate students in matters of academic policy. Contact Dr. Stricklin by calling 301-405-7761, or by email.

Elizabeth Weiss is Assistant to the Dean for Academic Programs. Beth coordinates recruitment and admissions for undergraduate majors and serves as liaison with parents and students. She works closely with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and participates in many campus academic committees such as Honors and Bannaker Key Review. Beth also has served as the AGNR Student Ambassador Advisor since 1986, an all volunteer group that assists the college with recruitment events. She can be reached at 301-314-7222 or by email.

Tim Lapanne is the Scholarship Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He administers the AGNR Scholarship Program, serving as a liaison between students and donors. Tim coordinates the day-to-day management of the Associate Dean for Academic Programs office, and assists with AGNR recruitment, career, and alumni programs. Contact Tim at 301-405-2078, or by email.
The first line of contact for students is Donna Walther, Administrative Assistant in the Student Services Office. Donna coordinates new student orientations, as well as AGNR graduation ceremonies. She maintains student records, performs graduation audits, and has a wealth of knowledge about university and college policies. Call Donna at 301-405-7761, or email her.

Emilie Clingerman is the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean. She provides assistance with the AGNR scholarship program, processes financial forms for the department, maintains the Academic Programs website, and evaluates CORE audits for all rising juniors in the college.
