Edward A. Platz Memorial Scholarship

The 2011 Annual Edward A. Platz Memorial Scholarship is being offered by the New Jersey Agribusiness Association. Two awards of $1,500 are to be presented at the New Jersey Agribusiness Association Annual meeting, to be held in November. Recipients are encouraged to receive the award in person at the meeting, which will be held in Burlington County. However, this is not a considering factor for the award.

The candidate must be enrolled at and in the academic rank of sophomore, junior, or senior at any accredited 4 year college or university in the United States when receiving the scholarship. The candidate must be a New Jersey resident majoring in an agricultural subject area (i.e. Plant Science, Animal Science, Agronomy, Entomology, etc.) or related field. The candidate must also intend to pursue a career in a field related to agriculture, with emphasis on production agriculture.

 The applicant must complete and submit the following:

  1. Application form 
  2. An official copy of transcripts from all colleges attended
  3. One letter of recommendation (academic or non-academic)
  4. A 1-2 page essay (typed) stating current goals for education and career

All of the information must be received by Monday, November 21, 2011. Letters of recommendation are to be sent by person writing the recommendation directly to the Scholarship Chairman. Do not send letters of recommendation with the application, transcripts, and essay.
