Robert T. Mangum Memorial Scholarship

$2000 Scholarship Available to Student Pursuing Studies in Horticulture & Related Fields

April 27, 2012 is the deadline for the $2000 annual Robert & Shirley Mangum Memorial Scholarship for a student pursuing collegiate studies and a career in horticulture and related fields.  Administered since 2004 by the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, the scholarship honors the contributions of lifelong Montgomery County residents, Robert & Shirley Mangum, who were pioneers in the local ornamental horticultural & interior landscape contracting industry.  A website has been created for the Scholarship, containing information about eligibility requirements, the application, deadlines and contact information.  The application deadline is April 27, 2012, and the scholarship will be awarded in May.  The website is MangumScholarship.com.  For more information, email Info@MangumScholarship.com   


ELIGIBILITY

1.  Applicant must be a resident in Montgomery County, MD.

2.  Applicant must be enrolled or accepted in an undergraduate or graduate agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, or plant science curriculum in a two-year or four-year institution. (Student must     carry a full-time course load during the semesters the scholarship is granted.).

3.  Applicant must demonstrate an overall 2.5 GPA.

4.  Applicant must receive excellent references from employers, and/or instructors, and/or industry contacts.

5.  Applicant must intend to pursue a career in the    floriculture, horticulture, or plant sciences industry.

6.  Applicant must be willing to receive the Scholarship award in person, either at the Montgomery County Farm Bureau’s Annual Summer Picnic, OR at the MCFB Annual Dinner, OR at student's high school or college spring Awards Banquet.

Applications are due by April 27, 2012.  Preference will be given to individuals who have not previously received the Robert T.
