Robert T. Mangum Memorial Scholarship
The Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Robert T. Mangum Family established “The Robert T. Mangum Memorial Scholarship Fund” in 2004 to honor Montgomery County businessman, Robert T. Mangum for his dedicated service to the agricultural industry, the community, and to horticultural/agricultural education.  The scholarship, one award in the amount of two thousand dollars ($2000), is given to an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in horticulture, agriculture, plant science or a related field in a Maryland two-year or four-year educational institution. The Scholarship is designed to assist students who have demonstrated character, scholarship & talent and who are interested in pursuing an education and eventual career in the Maryland agricultural or plant related industries.  

ELIGIBILITY

1.  Applicant must be a resident in Montgomery County, MD.

2.  Applicant must be enrolled or accepted in an undergraduate or graduate agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, or plant science curriculum in a two-year or four-year institution. (Student must     carry a full-time course load during the semesters the scholarship is granted.).

3.  Applicant must demonstrate an overall 2.5 GPA.

4.  Applicant must receive excellent references from employers, and/or instructors, and/or industry contacts.

5.  Applicant must intend to pursue a career in the    floriculture, horticulture, or plant sciences industry.

6.  Applicant must be available to receive the Scholarship in person, at the Montgomery County Farm Bureau’s Annual Dinner in Gaithersburg, MD in November 2009.

TO APPLY

Completed application and all attachments must be received by Mrs. Lori Connor, Scholarship Committee, 9828 Log House Court, Gaithersburg, MD  20882 by October 15th, 2009. Preference will be given to individuals who have not previously received the Robert T.
