Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship

The Wilderness Society is pleased to announce that the Gloria Barron Wilderness Society scholarship will award one grant of $10,000 to a graduate student in natural resources management, law or policy programs. The award will be for the coming academic year to support research and preparation of a paper on an aspect of wilderness in North America. To
apply for this Scholarship, students need to submit the following:

A cover letter that expresses your interest in the scholarship and why you think wilderness is important. It is important for us to know how wilderness has influenced your life. If, in the course of this essay, you could give us some understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, this would also be helpful (limit 3 pages).
A 3-5 page proposal, including a brief introduction and reason for proposed work, a description of the proposed work, and a timeline for completion of a paper within 18-24 months.
Your résumé or curriculum vitae.
Two letters of reference that come directly from the writers that describe your perceived ability to meet the objectives of the scholarship and proposed work.
Copies of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts.

Completed applications are due by March 30, 2010 and the award will be announced in early May. Send the application material to:
