Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Major: Animal Sciences/Pre-Professional with a minor in Astronomy
I applied to several schools but decided to attend the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources because the faculty, staff, and resources really appealed to me. And my first impression turned out to be accurate. Usually when a student transitions into college life the faculty is seen as uncaring -- they're just there to do research and to teach. But that's not the case at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The faculty and staff are really close to the students. They care about you as a person and not just their job.
In the fall of my freshman year I joined the agricultural sorority Sigma Alpha. I've met so many girls who are just amazing and it's great to be in an organization of girls that have the same interests as me and want to work together to improve the community.
When I first started college I was set on becoming a veterinarian. After being immersed in the world of Animal Sciences, I've opened my mind to possibly getting my PhD in Animal Behavior instead.
Advice to prospective students:
"If you are looking for a place where you can find many ways to fit in and enjoy your college career, then this is a great place for you."
Advice to parents of prospective students:
"Even though students have a good time, don't think for one minute that the education is sub-par. The faculty here are great at what they do and will be a great asset in helping your son or daughter achieve their goals."
