I chose to attend the University of Maryland and a major in the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources because I wanted to major in Agricultural & Resource Economics. The courses are fun and interesting. Being in this major is leading me to the job I want, and I’m thinking about going to law school and having an influence in making policy.
I like that the College of AGNR is a close-knit community. You get involved in different groups and get to know people in different colleges as well as your own. I’m on the student council, in Alpha Zeta, and I’m also a Student Ambassador. I’ve had a lot of fun as a part of these groups – like eating out at Franklin’s and serving ice cream at Ag Day last year. It’s something fun to do with friends.
Favorite Class: Urban Economics. It deals with how cities form, which is fun and interesting to me.
Advice for prospective students and parents: The College of AGNR is a nice, small family in a big university, so you get the best of both worlds. You can get to know a lot of people, and there are a lot of clubs you can get involved with. We have great rankings, and it’s close to DC so it’s convenient for internships.
