This two-year certificate program focuses on applied teaching methods. The institute is noted for
its individualized attention, hands-on learning and its career placement success. All institute students intern and many are later hired by those employers. Students have a better than 90 percent employment rate post-graduation, reflecting a close association with Maryland’s turfgrass, equine and horticultural industries, as well as professional organizations and government agencies.
The University of Maryland, College Park, is one of three campuses of this professional veterinary college
. VMRCVM offers a four-year program leading to a doctorate of veterinary medicine (D.V.M.) degree in the traditional fields of diagnosing, preventing and treating diseases of food, companion and sporting animals.
Each year, the college accepts 50 Virginia residents, 30 Maryland residents and up to 10 out-of-state residents. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources encourages and assists applicants and has an excellent placement rate. The vet school is also home to the Center for Government and Corporate Veterinary Medicine, a nationally recognized program that prepares students for non-traditional and leadership positions that require knowledgeable veterinarians.
