John's job responsibilities with the College include providing support to faculty and staff in the use of various learning management software tools: ELMS; blackboard, Podcasting with iTunes U, providing administrative oversight to the Undergraduate Technology Apprentice Program. Also promoting the use of teaching and learning technologies in the classroom using software applications provided by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

As adjunct instructor for various Community Colleges (Columbia Union College, Montgomery College), John taught adult learners’ various management and information systems concepts. John reports to Loc Hoang (Director of IET), as he seeks to help move the mission of the college forward and align it with the technology direction of the university. He continues to work with the College leadership on various IT related programs – these include working with Leon Slaughter (Associate Dean of Admissions), and Brad Paleg (Distance Learning Specialist), Chris Sargent (Network Administrator) both members of the Distance Learning unit, and International Programs in Agricultural & Natural Resource (IPAN). John is also a Faculty Staff Advisory Council Member for the University of Maryland Extension Service. (UME)

John has worked in various capacities for leading IS & Telecommunication companies such as Comcast Communications, Federal Sources Inc, and also FamerMac. Areas of interest include Federal, State & Local procurement, digital video production, database development and administration, networking (WAN technologies), strategic planning, change management, business process re-engineering, cost-benefit analysis, web development, strategic management, and teaching and learning; distance learning.

John holds M.Sc Agricultural Economics from Europe, M.S. Information Systems and Telecommunications for Business from Johns Hopkins University, USA. A year’s graduate work for the M.A Intercultural & International Management, School for International Training, Brattleboro, VT, USA.
