Fieldwork and internship opportunities are available with such organizations as McCormick and Company, The Association of Food, Beverage and Consumer Products Companies, Fairfield Farm Kitchens, The Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Highs Ice Cream Corporation, Strasburger and Siegel, Inc., Johanna Foods, Inc., and HP Hood, Inc.
The Food Science major offers opportunities for scholarships and achievement awards from the department, like the Robert Facchina Scholarship, as well as from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Institute of Food Technologists, Institute of Food Technologists Washington, DC Chapter, Maryland D.C. Dairy Technology, C.W. England scholarships, and the Forbes Chocolate Leadership Award.
