2009 Alumni Chapter Awards
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Chapter honors faculty and staff members who make outstanding contributions through Teaching, Extension, and Research.
2009 marks the 42nd year that the Alumni Chapter recognizes graduating students from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ four-year baccalaureate programs. The Chapter has recognized graduating students from the two-year Institute of Applied Agriculture since 1989. These outstanding graduating students are recognized for their leadership, service, and scholarship. Since 2001 an outstanding graduate student is also recognized as they conclude their graduate program.
All August and December 2008 AGNR graduates as well as May 2009 graduating students will be invited as guests of the Alumni Chapter and College to the Alumni Reunion and Awards program on April 15, 2009 and receive a gift from the alumni chapter.
The Chapter celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of AGNR Alumni through the Early Career Alumnus Award, acknowledging career accomplishments for those who have graduated from AGNR within the past 10 years; and the Meritorious Service to Agriculture and Natural Resources Award, recognizes outstanding contributions to agriculture and natural resources, by an AGNR alumnus throughout their careers.
Finally, the Chapter offers recognition for those who are not alumni of the College yet have provided dedicated and enthusiastic support of AGNR programs. These individuals or groups join the Chapter's Circle of Friends or receive Honorary Membership.
The long standing AGNR Alumni Chapter Awards program is a small expression of appreciation to faculty, staff, students, and fellow alumni for their outstanding contributions in extending the Agriculture and Natural Resources programs of the University of Maryland throughout Maryland, the nation and around the world.

The 2009 awards will be presented at the AGNR Alumni Annual Reunion and Awards Celebration on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center on the College Park campus. Social hour and Silent Auction will beginning at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by awards presentations. Proceeds from the Silent Auction is used to awards grants to AGNR Student Clubs and organizations to assist in their extra-curricular educational programs.
