Jason Matthew Brooke is a senior in Biological Resources Engineering who hopes to attend medical school following graduation. Jason entered the University of Maryland with advance placement scores in several courses including calculus. He has earned a 3.64 grade point average at College Park in a very rigorous program.
Jason has been describe as a very organized and conscientious student. He is prepared for advising appointments and ready to discuss his academic goals and schedule. He attend King's College in London, England, for a semester of study abroad during the Fall 2000 semester which has supplemented and enriched his educational background. While in London, he took the following courses: Fundamentals of Neuroscience, From Cells to Systems, Applied Pharmacology, and Infection and Immunity. These courses combined with current courses in Bioengineering of Exercise Response, Biosystems Response to Environmental Stimuli, and Creative Design with AutoCAD/CAM have prepared him well to reach his goal of attending medical school.
In addition to his strong academic performance, Jason has gained great work experience while at College Park. He has volunteered in Lakewood Healthcare Center since September 1999. He has also worked as a lab assistant in the department's Human Performance Laboratory and Model Analysis Laboratory. Faculty members in both labs praise Jason's work.
Jason has served as Student Ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and is the student representative for the Engineering Student Council. He is serving as president of the Biological Resources Engineering Society (BRES) student chapter of American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE), and is a co-founder of the UM Student Chapter of Biomedical Engineering Honor Society as a Maryland Merit High School Scholar and has received the James R. Ferguson Memorial Scholarship from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He was the recipient of the Maryland/DC Chapter of the ASAE Honors award in 2000.
Jason is an outstanding student and future professional who is a true asset to his future alma mater.
