A native of Lothian, Maryland, Amanda Moreland will graduate from the Institute of Applied Agriculture's Landscape Management program in May 2003.

During high school, Amanda was active in 4-H club work, receiving various recognitions for her 4-H horse project. Following her graduation from Southern High School, she attended Anne Arundel Community College and discovered her future career path by working at Patuxent Nursery. She enrolled in the Landscape Management program at IAA and has been an active and enthusiastic student in her chosen field.

Amanda was part of a team of students who constructed the landscape feature at the University of Maryland's Campus Farm. This project was student driven from design to installation. Fellow team members noted that Amanda was a hard worker with positive suggestions for the project.

She completed an internship at Shemin Nurseries in Burtonsville, Maryland, during the summer of 2002. The company was going through a major relocation, and Amanda's superb organizational skills were utilized. Her supervisor noted that she was a hard worker and quick learner. She also worked with Child's Landscape in Arnold, Maryland, while attending the IAA.

IAA Faculty cites her motivation as an example for other students. She sets high goals for herself and works hard to achieve those goals. She was awarded the Cecil Massie Scholarship in 2002.

Amanda is currently working with McHale Landscape Design in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
