Agriculture and Natural Resources Student Council:

The AGNR Student Council is authorized within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources' Plan of Governance. Each club in the College elects one representative to serve on the AGNR Student Council. The officers are elected by those representatives. The Council is responsible for the coordination of Fall Bash, Ag Day, and the AGNR Banquet. All students within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources are welcome to attend and participate in the Council.

As an ambassador, it is our responsibility to:

-Promote the growth, development, and image of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

-Serve as a communication link between students, faculty, and the administration

-Provide support and service in carrying out selected activities of the College

-Serve as a role model and general public relations link for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Students are invited to participate as an ambassador based on academic achievement and leadership potential. Over 20 students represent most of the academic disciplines within the College. Prospective students please stop by our table for information about our academic programs!

Alpha Gamma Rho 

Alpha Gamma Rho:

"Making Better Men Since 1904." Alpha Gamma Rho is a social/professional fraternity open to all men from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the College of Chemical and Life Sciences, and men with agricultural backgrounds. Currently, we have men in majors ranging from Animal Sciences to Engineering, and our diversity speaks for itself. Alpha Gamma Rho has been called a pillar within this University and its organizations for over 75 years.

Alpha Zeta 

The Fraternity of Alpha Zeta, Maryland Chapter:

Alpha Zeta is an honorary and professional fraternity of men and women whose educational objectives and/or career objectives fall into the broadly defined field of agriculture. Founded in 1897, it is the oldest fraternal organization in agriculture. Alpha Zeta's members have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, and service here at the University. We participate in local service activities such as the Adopt-A-Highway Program.

Animal Husbandry Club 

University of Maryland Animal Husbandry Club:

Our goals: To promote the animal agriculture industry, develop future leaders in the animal agriculture industry, build strong interpersonal relationships, and encourage excellence in all we do.

Some things we do: Field trips to neighboring sheep, swine, dairy, beef, and horse farms; Participation in and sponsorship of the annual livestock shows on Ag Day; Fitting of beef cattle for annual Wye Angus Sale on the Eastern Shore.

Equestrian Club:

Who are we?

Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff who are involved in the daily care, training, and riding of our on-campus horses. The club teaches many different aspects of the equine industry and general horsemanship, while having fun on the farm!

Where are we?

We are located on the Campus Farm, across from the Animal Sciences Building, and are affiliated with the Department of Animal Sciences. Our stable houses seven horses who vary in breed and discipline.

Food and Nutrition Club:

FAN Club exists to unite and support the students within the Department of Nutrition and Food Science. It provides members with educational and career opportunities while encouraging the development of leadership skills. FAN reaches the surrounding Maryland communities through activities and programs targeted toward promoting understanding of food and nutrition.

Food Technology Club:

Our club is a part of the National Institute of Food Technologists Student Association. Our activities promote and recognize student interaction, stimulate interest in real-life food science situations, and provide members with career opportunities and leadership skills. National Resources Management Society:

The NRMT Society is open to all students interested in environmental professions. The group participates in service activities including tree plantings and stream clean-ups, and fun activities like camping and canoeing. In addition, the NRMT Society hosts guest speakers who educate students about opportunities in the field of natural resources.

Animal and Avian Sciences Graduate Student Association:

Members of AASGSA take part in many departamental activities which foster graduate student involvement and interaction amongst students, faculty, and staff. Our events include an annual Spaghetti Sizzler, Chili Cookoff, and social events throughout the year that allow the graduate students to interact outside of the academic setting.

Sigma Alpha, Beta Alpha Chapter:

Who are we?

We are a group of women who share the goal of promoting women in agriculture on a local, state, and national scale.

What do we do?

As a professional sorority, we emphasize our members' professional development while maintaining the close friendships and ties to the community found in other sororities.

Veterinary Science Club:

We are an active organization of students interested in the field of veterinary science and an official member of the American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association. We encourage anyone interested in animals or a verterinary career to join. There is a requirement of four meetings and one club sponsored event to becvome an active member.

The primary objectives of the club are:

-To promote a deeper understanding of the numerous opportunities in veterinary medicine

-To exchange information on veterinary and animal experiences

-To keep students updated on the latest veterinary school information

College Park Environmental Group Promoting Environmental Activism and Appreciation:

The College Park Environmental Group (CPEG) is a University of Maryland sponsored student group that is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and appreciation through community service, recreation, and education. Our meetings are every Wednesday night at 6 pm on the steps of Jimenez Hall. New members are always welcome, and bring your friends too!

-To attract and retain persons of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds in the programs of agriculture, natural resources, and the related sciences

-To provide academic, social, and professional support and networking opportunities for students in the programs of agriculture, natural resources, and the related sciences.
